I worked with Gareth Butler for six months in 2003, during the launch of the Politics Show. This sad news comes as a real shock and surprise to me. He was a truly decent person and nice guy and he had a formidable knowledge of politics and current affairs. On behalf of the whole team, he presented me with my wedding gift shortly before I left the programme. My deepest condolences to his wife and children.
