About the TMS blog

James Bridgeman | 09:49 UK time, Tuesday, 8 August 2006

Welcome to the all-new Test Match Special blog.

Our aim is to help you get closer to our cricket presenters and producers, giving you the chance to feed your thoughts and opinions directly into Test Match Special and Five Live's cricket coverage.

Amongst our bloggers, you'll hear from Jonathan Agnew, Arlo White, producers Peter Baxter and Adam Mountford, as well as our cricket journalists at the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sport web site. We also hope to have guest bloggers for you from the world of cricket - so if there's anyone in particular you'd like to hear from, let us know and we'll try to get them to write something.

For the uninitiated, blogs (or weblogs) work like this:

The most recent posts appear at the top of the page. And at the bottom of every entry are two links:
• "Permalink" allows you to bookmark a particular post, or to send it by e-mail to a friend
• "Comments" invites you to offer your reaction to that entry, or read those of others
Comments are what set a blog apart from a traditional column because they create an immediate dialogue between the audience and author. Our contributors will be reading and responding to some of your comments and acting on some of your suggestions.

Please keep your comments clean. Those which fail our house rules may be removed. If you see a post that is inappropriate, please alert us by using the "complain about this post" link and we will act accordingly.

You should be aware of our privacy policy too.

And do try to keep your comments short and relevant to the posts they answer. We will delete off-topic posts because we want to keep this blog focused on the World Cup experience. Readers looking for longer or broader discussions such as the interminable Chris Read v Geraint Jones debate should visit our message boards.

You can also use an RSS feed of this blog - which basically lets you know when there's something new to read. For more information, please visit our .

You can have a look at our .

And those who are interested in the way we cover sport, might want to visit the Sport Editors' Blog.

That's it - we hope you enjoy our TMS blog and look forward to talking to you.

Hello and welcome.

How about asking Mike Gatting to do a blog on whether he thinks using just 4 bowlers for the Ashes series is anywhere near sensible.

Many thanks for your suggestion Andrew - we'll see if we can get in touch with Gatt to find out what he thinks.

A cricket chat in the pub left its participants perplexed last night when it was suggested that no two West Indian test cricketers in history share the same first name... Is this true? Surely not but I for one am hoping it is. Can the TMS team enlighten one on this extraordinary fact?

I've always thought it'd be nice if you'd consider making A View from the Boundary (and perhaps some of your other extended features that only get the one outing on Radio 4/5LSE) available for download as part of the podcast trial.

In the same way that people hold on to annuals and almanacs to remind them of past seasons, I'm sure many would like to build up a audio library they could come back and hear again at a later date (and View from the Boundary would I'm sure sounds just as good when you listen to it out of context).

A good idea to have a blog for TMS, be nice to have most of the TMS team blogging on here at some point such as CMJ and Blowers.

I think it would be good if you advertised the blog a little i.e on the TMS messageboard and the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Cricket site.

Many thanks for your comment Manjit - we certainly hope that the TMS team will be getting their thoughts up here very soon.

In terms of promoting the blog, we wanted to keep it fairly quiet to begin with until we had a few posts up there - but rest assured we'll be unveiling it in its full glory very soon.

Ashes lost , RIP. Lots to talk about, the pain , the pain. Talking about pain, we've GOT to stop losing key players through injury: Vaughan, S.Jones, Flintoff ( Collossus version), even Tres in a way. Too much something going on, what IS going on? why are they all injured???How do we stop it?

Dear Tms,
Thoroughly enjoyed your interview with Harry from McFly during the lunch intervul because i live overlooking the north end of the county ground Hove and last night my daughter Ellie and 15 friends over and they loved it, and today we have the west end show 'The Rat Pack'.
In answer to CMJ's worries about the outfield at Hove we are having a glorious day of sunshine and his fears are unfounded. :)

Best wishes from hove

Me and my mum have been arguing over whether Pietersen is traditionally a number 4 or number 5 batsman. This arose from us wondering whether he has played more test matches at number 4 or number 5.
My mum argues that traditionally he is a number 5 batsman but I see him as a number 4.
We have looked through the archives but still cannot decide.

Why is it that I cannot contribute to blogs? Every time I try, I get "502 - service not available." This has happened to me more than half a dozen times - and will probably happen to this. - Frustrated!
