The krypton tractor

You may have already read that we visited red kites at Gigrin Farm last week.

Tonight's Springwatch is live from the same location so you'll get to see Simon feeding the birds again. With clear skies, we should be in for some spectacular shots and hundreds of birds in the air and the slo-mo footage is incredible.

In the meantime check out some behind-the-scenes footage I shot for the web when we visited last week as Simon loaded up the tractor with fresh meat ready for the afternoon feed.

If you're watching tonight - keep an eye out for polecats as we've had reports that they do pop up there from time to time... The search continues! ;0

I love this place, when it gets near feeding time the kites settle in the trees surrounding the main feeding field, waiting for their lunch. As soon as the meat is shovelled out onto the grass the sky turns into a swarm of red kites and buzzards.
Grey herons also come in for their share.

Visited Gigrin 11 days ago on a sunny day with clear skies - a day like today really shows off the colouring of the kites. Looking forward to tonights episode. The Kites are so spectacular in such numbers as you see there.
