Disappointed Derek?
Bore da! I felt a bit disappointed this morning when I woke up to find it dry in Corwen. There were even a few peeps of sunshine.
However, within half an hour it was raining and I felt a sense of relief because I had forecast rain. Mind you, the weather can vary enormously across Wales depending on where you live and the weather pattern. It can be pouring in Llandrillo and dry as a bone in Llangollen down the road.
The hills and mountains can have a big effect on the weather locally. Most of the rain in North Wales falls on the Snowdonia mountain range leaving North East Wales and the north coast much drier. The cloud can lift and break too, with sunshine and higher temperatures. So many people rely on accurate weather forecasts, especially in the summer and for big events like the Eisteddfod, so I am under pressure to get it right!
So far today, the weather has turned out drier than I expected on the Maes in Bala, but the air is moist and humid with a few bursts of rain and drizzle at times. Tonight rain in South Wales will clear and the next few days are looking more cheerful: much drier and brighter with sunny spells.
I am feeling quietly confident that the forecast will go according to plan, but there is always a chance that Mother Nature will throw a spanner in the works! And instead of sunshine it will chuck it down! Time will tell, but if you're coming to the Eisteddfod tomorrow bring the sun cream just in case.
In the meantime, I am off to try my hand at Clocsio - dancing in clog shoes - wish me luck!
Hwyl
Derek
