Surfers chain - world record attempt
As you can see it all went off without a hitch and the record attempt was recorded from the air via a micro-light. All in all 152 surfers took the water to take part.
Michaela Jones has sent me these stunning images, to share with you.

The surfers chain event hit the water about 5pm and with marshaling from volunteers on paddle boards and boats the 150 or more surfers soon formed the chain. There was a fun atmosphere with young and old all participating. I even saw a dog swim by! It makes a change from seals.
A well organised event which was mellow and enjoyable.

Where were we . Oh yeah I went to Bae Fest with the family, met a few OTL'ers.
Yet again a great day out. Started off from Hereford at 6:30 am. Arrived on site at about 9 am( a few things to do on the way). Set up the stall in the trading village and spent until 5.30pm chilling and selling a few bits. Had a lot of interest but there didn't seem to be many buyers about. ( out of interest how many surfers who attended came down to the trading area ?) Slipped into a wet suit and joined the chain with the twins, Will and Chloe at around 6.
A few weak links were soon sorted out ( you ever tried getting about 150 surfers holding hands ) and I think it was definitely cosha ? kosha ? ok.
Then dropped the kit off at the hotel and out for fish and chips. dropped the family back at the hotel and down to the charity ball. Met up with Larry, Si, Jay and a few others and eventually gave it up at about 1 am.
Back in Hereford at about mid day sunday. all in all a good day out.
can't quite get over all those surfers holding hands. ha ha

The vibe in the water for the Surfers Chain was just as special this year as it was in the inaugural 2008 event - no words can explain the sense of union when the group joined hands and the record attempt was made. A zip of energy flooded the crowd. Let's hope more can attend next year and raise even more cash for charity.
Loads of good stalls and free demo's on the day. I personally enjoyed watching the youngsters on the skate ramp, browsing the arts & carfts tents and meeting likeminded environmentally aware individuals. Big thanks to Mike and Co for arranging for me to go out on the safety boat to get some pics of the SUP race - the first such Welsh leg of the UK Stand Up Paddleboard championship - even though i had to wade out in chest deep water to climb on board! A Thoroughly recommended good day out.
