Families in Greenfield say yes, those in Mold says no and the jury is still out in Buckley and Flint. What am I talking about? Well, the supposed panacea for bored youth - skate and BMX parks, of course.

People in Greenfield have just launched a plan to raise £40,000 to build such a park for their young people, according to , whereas in Mold those living near another proposed park site - behind the Posh Wash, off Ruthin Road - are opposing the plans.

In Buckley, the skatepark by Elfed High is now established but there have been concerns raised due to problems associated with drinking alcohol and in Flint vandalism has been the issue.

Essentially, I feel the parks are a good thing - getting kids to exercise and participate in group activities should be the priority and from that will come other benefits, or is that view too simplistic?
