NYOil - lynch the gansta rappers
is a rapper from New York, he's on the show tonight and in a track downloaded thousands of times on the net, it's 'time you fake-ass gangstas... should all get lynched". We've already talked on WHYS about the use of the 'n-word' by black people - but what about calling for a 'lynching'? with the glorification of violence and prison, and aggressive attitudes towards women. In the track he goes on "Because Martin Luther King died for you to act like this/ This is the best you can come up with?"
So is he right to berate parts of hip-hop culture? Should he use language like this to make his point? Or is this an MC who's seriously out of line? Talk to him later....
Read on for the rest of the show., and if you want to receive the new WHYS daily email, message me now and I'll add you to the list.
2 IS PAKISTAN DOING ENOUGH TO STOP AL-QAEDA?
The US claims that Al Qaeda . This isn't the first time the country has been accused of letting Islamic militants work freely within its borders. Afghanistan and India, among others, have also said similar things several times.
We're hoping to speak to a senior Pakistani official, to whom you can put your questions. What would you like to him or her?
3. LA Times columnist Joel Stein is going to be joining us throughout - he's not to convinced by the need to give space to the views of his readers - as he puts it 'I don't want to talk to you; I want to talk at you.' And for readers I think you can say listeners as well. So he's joining us for the whole show, and we'll try and persuade him of the merits of making space for everyone's opinion. If you want to talk to him... you know the routine.
4. WILL AMERICA FALL FOR BECKHAM'S GAME?
Yes old Goldenballs himself is to play the world's favourite game... He says he's very excited about the move (250 million dollars for 5 years in California, I don't blame him), but if you're a sports fan in America, are you? Can he persuade Americans that this is a game worthy of putting on a par with basketball, baseball and American football?
And if you're not in America, do you care if America falls for football?
AND THE STORIES NOT MAKING THE CUT TODAY...
1. ANNA: LIFE IN BANGLADESH
I'm interested in hearing from Bangladesh, where the President yesterday, stepped down as leader of the caretaker government and postponed this month's elections. I'm not sure we'll be able to hear from there with the strict curfew in place, but thinks it's worth looking into.
2. ANNA: WHAT DO THE REST OF THE WORLD WANT TO DO WITH IRAQ?
I felt we heard from a lot fo people in the UK, Iraq and America. Today, Tony Blair is saying the , despite a proposed cut back of troops in the UK and Bush's escalation of 20,000 troops. What about the rest of the world... what role do you want to play in Iraq?
3. FROM DAN IN DETROIT: DO YOU WANT TO GO TO SPACE?
Later this month, Microsoft will be launching its new operating software, Vista. To help launch the new platform, they have devised a game on a massive scale with clues revealed all over the world - it's called vanishing point and is a series of puzzles. The eventual winner wins a trip to space! I myself have been working on the puzzles (finally got all of the first 12!) and am chomping at the bit for the next ones! Let me know what you think and I'll try to be there for morning meeting!
We weren't too sure about the Microsoft story, Dan. If millions of you get talking about it then maybe, but it's too early for it to be a news story I think. At it feels too tenous to use as a reason to discuss whether we'd like to go space. You're welcome to explain to me why we're wrong Dan!
We're on air at 1800GMT. Speak to you later.
