Don't want to come across as being negative all the time but that's some B-side quality business from Green Day there. Time to retire?

  • Comment number 2.

yep i'm kinda over green day since the king blues came out with their last album

  • Comment number 3.

im sorry Zane but this is only the hottest record in the world right now if you set light to it, theres nothing new here definatly sounds like a filler track on a debut album

  • Comment number 4.

like it. obvious single choice. other songs will be better.

"....this is only the hottest record in the world right now if you set light to it."

Lolllll, fair play if you coined that one yourself.

The record...eh, I wouldn't rush to flip stations if it came on. At least the first half dozen times. It's merely 'ok'. Green Day by numbers.

geoffowen23, You truly are sad, why would you think that about an amazing rock band that have saved people's live before, this is just the start of something new for green day, if you don't like them then don't post stupid comments here.

Easy DanniiGORE. Just posting my opinion on the song which is kind of what this blog is for. Not saying I dont like Green Day, just that this song seems a bit weak as a come back single after a long break. Most of the other comments tend to agree as well. Maybe my 'time to retire' comment was a bit flipant. Let's see what else they come up with on the album but for me, this track doesn't have the same impact as American Idiot did when that came out.

geoffowen23: Obviously either you were too young or you don't remember the impact Dookie had when it came out. Then Green Day did it again with American Idiot. I've heard 21st Century Breakdown, and it sounds like they are back to their roots. This album will not disappoint. I know plenty of other bands that I could say should retire, Metallica and Aerosmith are 2 off the top of my head. Green Day still have a long road ahead of them. You would know that if you've been a fan as long as I or have even seen a Green Day concert. So wait till the new album comes out before you say something stupid like they should retire. You just piss off a lot of true fans.

I'm 31. I got the Longview single the day it came out.

  • Comment number 10.

Agree with you about Aerosmith though :)

  • Comment number 11.

is it me or does Billie Joe do a bit of screaming at around 2:09 lol. i'm liking this more everytime i hear it

  • Comment number 12.

HAH!!! Green Day retire? PFFT scrue you. If the words, "Gimmie gimmie revolution" aren't strong enough for you then nothing is. Do the world a favor and pull the stick out of your butt or shut up and go back to whatever rock you crawled out of xP

geoffowen23: Then we are in the same boat, since I fell in love with Longview when it came out too, but I was ghetto and recorded it off the radio at the time and then bought Dookie on Feb 1 1994(our local CD store didn't have CD singles then). So you need to listen to Lights Out, Know Your Enemy's bside. First time I listened to it, it brought me back to the Dookie days. And when you hear Murder City and some of the other tracks on 21st Century, I'm sure you'll love it.

Hehe, might be best for Prophets1791 to stay indoors and keep a low profile for a while. The hardcore iz on iz case!

But seriously, chill out. Like the song goes:

"The Beatles, were just a band
    Led Zepplin, just a band
The Beach Boys, just a band..."

This place is for opinion, not pocket dictators.

  • Comment number 15.

Ha! It's me that's getting the hate not Prophets1791. Prophets is loving the track. I don't mind I can take it. It would be better however if people stated their opinion on the track in question, which is what I did, rather than speculating about what may be protruding from my prosterior :)

  • Comment number 16.

Gah, sorry 'bout that - I don't want Prophets1791 to be beaten up by rabid fans either!

That'll teach me to type when bleary-eyed. Possibly :]

  • Comment number 17.

No more typing on the internetz after midnight for Kriptick :)

I had been a fan of there music when i heard "Mezzanine" which ultimately was the peak of there career, the quality of production and songs arrangements have gone done with each new releases as if the passion has been dried of, five years to release an album is a huge gap, the track is not disappointing at all, i would definitely give a thump up . Echoes of Chicago House filtering through tonights Hottest Record from the ever evolving Bloc Party. Its like each single they release is their own interpretation of an exciting form of music. And they are undoubtedly heading deeper onto the dancefloor as 'One More Chance' proves. A good one for the more ambitious DJ's this summer. Ok. Have a good weekend. Next weeks Hottest Records include the return of Beastie Boys on Tuesday and Noah and the Whale on Monday. AND AND
