How to make you own bath bombs?
馃毃 These are very safe for your skin, but if you would rather where gloves to avoid mess whilst making it like Tim, feel free to pop a pair on!听馃毃
1. Mix together the dry ingredients
In a big bowl add in the baking soda, citric acid and cornflour, combine using a whisk.
2. Mix together the wet ingredients
In a smaller bowl, mix together the water and the coconut oil.
3. Combine the wet and dry mixtures
Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry and whisk carefully as it will fizz when it combines.
Keep mixing until it is all completely combined and starting to look like wet sand.
4. Add in your colours and assemble it all together
You can follow Tim Peake's design by creating planet Earth or you can get creative and come up with your own colours!
If you are following Tim, carefully transfer 1/3 of your mixture into a separate clean bowl as this will be for your land, leaving 2/3 of the mixture in the other bowl for the ocean.
Fun Fact: Planet Earth is made up of roughly 1/3 land and 2/3 ocean.
Pour a splash of green food colouring into your land bowl and blue food colouring into your ocean bowl and give a good mix until combined.
Now you need to assemble your Planet Earth. Take your bath bomb silicone moulds, making sure they are really dry. Add a handful of the green land mixture first and then a handful of the blue water mixture, squishing it down into the mould and layering until it's full.
Repeat for both sides of the mould.
Top tip: If you haven't got a silicone bath bomb mould like Tim, you can use an old yoghurt pot or anything that's stainless steel, plastic or silicone!
Once the halves are squashed down fold your two halves together and squish together to create your ball.
Leave to set for 30 minutes to allow time for the two halves to combine together and set.聽
Carefully remove them out of the mould and they will be ready to be dropped into water. Enjoy and watch it fizz away!
