On Wednesday 8 May 2002 artists and interested people were given information and presentations about regional arts opportunities.

The Arts and Media Training (A+MT) roadshow was held in the first floor meeting room of the AUEW Building, 57-61 Corporation Street, Coventry.

We have established funding for the next five years, equivalent to 拢26,000. This will provide training, support and information for artists.

The roadshow was designed for artists to find out what A+MT can offer.

It was also be an opportunity for people who have used A+MT in the past to share their experiences.

Everyone interested in the arts found it a valuable networking opportunity.

Artists received information on development initiatives, courses and future events, as well as hearing feedback on previous courses from former attendees and group leaders.

The event included:

路 informal presentations from members of the A+MT board and staff on what they do and on available learning opportunities

路 information on programmes of work, both planned and in progress

路 an opportunity to meet other artists and arts practitioners from the region

路 a buffet

We want to have the roadshow to show what we've achieved over the past 10 years and to plan how we can develop over the next five.

Rachel Sutton from A+MT said:

"We have established funding for the next five years, equivalent to 拢26,000. This will provide training, support and information for artists.

"The money is from a couple of sources, a grant from the European schemes ERDF and ESF and West Midlands Arts.

"We wanted to have the roadshow to show what we've achieved over the past 10 years and to plan how we can develop over the next five."

Among the training already planned are a career planning course to look at CV's and work opportunities for artists and an illustrator's course designed so illustrators can meet agents and have a portfolio surgery.

The courses are all subsidised by A+MT's funding and costs depend on the artist's address. Typically courses range from 拢20 - 拢50.

This was the first of a set of roadshows. Others will take place later in the year, one in the Birmingham region and one in the North Midlands/Shropshire area.
