Our reviewer Vincent Baxter popped along to take a look and told us what he thought. You can also see the latest cars from the show by clicking the 'images' button at the bottom of this page.
Car show - but not car friendly

The first thing that struck me about the Motor Show, before we even entered the building, was the price for the car park: 拢8 just to park the car! It might be a show aimed at car lovers but we're not car park lovers that's for sure!
The first thing we were confronted by was a large go-karting arena, which I expressed an interest in, but Mrs Baxter was adamantly against it and, with clipped remark about having "only just got her hair done", she was off and heading for the next part of the show.

Any of my initial disappointments melted away, as I emerged into the first proper hall of the show.
Imagine your favourite branch of Halfords set in an aircraft hangar, crammed full of useful tools and accessories, and all, seemingly, from the future.
I was amazed by this stunning array of labour-saving devices. Indeed, even Mrs Baxter was rather taken by one item, a sort of car-cushion that vibrated gently when sat on.
By this time, we needed some refreshment, and Mrs Baxter and I enjoyed a full English breakfast at one of the conveniently located cafes on the outside of the halls although at 拢7 each, they were almost as expensive as the parking!
听New car's a "little too brash"
| 听 |
The main part of the show is made up of stands by all of the car manufacturers that you can think of, with their shiny new models on display - that's the cars of course, not the ladies in tight shorts looking after the stands!.
The new James Bond cars were on display as well as the shiny new all-aluminium Jaguar.

Also making its bow was the new MG XPower SV, but while it was clearly a fine vehicle and a testament to our best West Midlands engineering, it was a little too brash for my taste.
My favourite item at the show, however, was a 1970s Vauxhall Cavalier, which brought the memories flooding back, as it was exactly this make of car in which Mrs Baxter and I first visited the Isle Of Wight. Now that's what I call motoring!
