Sorry cov fans. Ray graydons been watching Bristol Rovers for the last 2 weeks.
He has links with the club and family here and its a done deal from what we hear.... We need him more than you were in a right mess lol Good luck to you next season.

Ronnie Moore, 2 successive promotions and first division status with no money which he'll precisly have at City. Forget Macca & Pearce, already been down that road with Butcher, Strach and Nillson, wheres that got us?

What would Graydon bring to the party. How can he be linked with the City and Bristol Rovers in the same breath? Forget Gould - all passion, but nothing else. He's been here twice and done nothing. Pearce or McAllister would at least raise the profile of our flagging club. Trouble is though, how does a new new manager cope with a poor squad and no money to bring in new players - could he go the same way in 12 months?

There is no way that Macca should be given the job. It would just be the Roland Nilsson problem all over again. We need someone with a bit of experience, which is why we need someone like George Graham, if he would come. The scaking was the best decision that has been made at the club in recent years.

Ray Graydon's record at Walsall: Played 205, Won 79, Lost 71, Drew 55. NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Gary Mac's record: non-existent. Therefore NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
We don't want another ex-player to take over. We should learn from our mistakes. It rarely works.
I suggested George Burley yesterday. If possible George Graham would turn the club around. Another name that comes to mind is that of Peter Taylor (results are what count).

I feel that Roland could have been given more of a chance as manager. He had his work cut out from the start, I dont think any manager would have got Coventry into the play offs this season with the players we had! But I think Ray Graydon would be the best replacement!!!

The chairman clearly got wind of the amount of season ticket holders who are bailing out next year and the sacking of Nilsson is an attempt to redress that.
When a club is losing fan base at the rate we are something has to change! He had no chance, and amazingly it was clear that there would have been no money should we have got back up and what manager can work in that scenario?
The money's spent yet the same weakneses remain in the team and the hallmarks of Strachan's relegation side,i.e.frailty, no system, unmotivated, physically weak, remain. Ask yourself where would we have finished without the run of luck he had when he took over?
I actually recommended Roland to Richardson by e-mail but well and truly have to eat my words now. The club now finds itself cruelly exposed to the previous wanton reward of longterm highly paid contracts to mediocre players as they merely play them out. The playing side is firmly now in free-fall to end up who knows where? The last two years! ha!
We've been a disaster and I believe the club has not paid this league and those clubs that have fought so hard to get out of it, anywhere near enough respect or accepted the inevitable footballing culture shock that was to come to them. A total shambles that had to change.

I agreed with the decision to sack Nilsson & Smith but it frightens me to death that someone from the club will have been taking note & make Bobby Gould or Ray Graydon our new manager.
If they are the best alternatives we should have stuck with Nilsson. Gould hasn't done anything as a Manager since 1988 & seems to be regarded as a bit of a joke in football circles.
As for Graydon if he's not good enough for Walsall surely he's not good enough for us. Everyone's getting too carried away with this disciplinarian argument.
That may work on 2nd Division players but it won't on the sort of players we will need to get into the Premier. He is too old & not enough of a name to warrant players respect.
If we want someone who will not accept the lack of discipline we have seen on & off the field this year but still command the respect of the modern footballer we could do worse than Stuart Pearce.
However he hasn't a track record as a Manager & I would look to him as a No.2 to Nigel Clough who has gone down to the grass roots despite his big name & proved a huge success. He is going to be a great manager at the top level & we should bite the bullet & go for him before someone else does.

I think that we need to bring in someone has experince in the job and can take us back to the top flight i.e Dave Jones or George Graham.

I agree with many fans in that the sacking was probably the right move, but I do feel for Roland Nilsson, as he has inherited a team consisting of latent underachievers, with the few obvious exceptions.
I felt that the appointment of Jim Smith was a good move at the time, but in retrospect, I think it destabilised the team, as the deterioration of the side has become clear in it's one dimensional approach in humping the ball up front to a generally small and physically weak front line.
Also, I don't think I've seen a player get to the byline and actually cross the ball from there. To be honest, I respect Ray Graydon as a manager and believe that he has worked wonders at Walsall.
However, as mentioned, City are a potentially big team and the expectation is greater - I think that the pressure would certainly be on him and that may prove to be too great. I would have liked to see someone such as Peter Taylor, with Oggy as his understudy. However, with him having been promoted, I feel he'd like to stay put.
To be honest, of all the names mentioned, none really appeal except possibly George Graham or Terry Venables, neither of which I can see us being able to afford. Good luck to whoever gets the job and please forward my good wishes to Magnus Hedman - I hope his son is up on his feet soon.

One up for the new chairman! Finally someone talks about the fans as if they care.
Trouble with the current set up, too many players do not care about pulling the Coventry shirt on.
I went to the match on Friday and they were the worst two teams I've ever seen at Highfield Road. We have a team of midfield players who at best can pass the ball to the opposition, at worst its a punt up front to players who have no ability to head the ball.
Why are we saying the likes of Strachan, Nilsson and Smith are good coaches when what we have witnessed over the last two years is nothing short of a joke. We are a club in crisis. but I suppose all of this keeps you blokes in a job. My choice for the job would be Chris Kamara with Robbie Earle as his very able assistant - at least those pair know what they are talking about.

Am I missing something here? All season I have listened to everyone saying we must get back in the Premiership for financial reasons if nothing else?
What league were we in when we amounted the biggest debt in the football league?

Just a comment about the possibility of John Sillett coming back as a 'father-figure' to Peake/Ogrizovic it shouldn't be forgotten that he had always planned on Peake/Regis being a future management team so could well be prepared to take on a mentoring role for a very similar partnership.
Personally though I'm A Graydon fan but I think it's wrong to assume he's a Coventry person - he was only a City player for one season after many years at...dare I say it: Aston Villa!

Personally I think the sacking is a little harsh. The club were well set for a play-off place until the appointment of Jim Smith. Perhaps Roly should have been kept on in some kind of coaching role. Mick McGinnity has sacked him solely due to the fact that he was appointed by Bryan Richardson.
Although I would never ever defend Richardson, it is clear that McGinnity will not live with any of his decisions or legacies.
Another thing - why have the players escaped all criticism, either by the press or by the fans? Aren't they in some way responsible for the club's position? Sure, the manager can motivate the players and pick the team but Konjic has shown all season what a bit of passion and self belief can do.
Are you seriously telling me that Konjic is the only player on the pitch who has the ability to go past defenders? He was against Millwall!!!
Players like Lee Hughes should have hung their heads in shame when they saw Mo running past them.
As to the new manager - Joe Kinnear.

Although I have great respect for Roland Nillson as a player, I believe that the decision is right to sack him.
We have flattered to deceive all season in terms of the actual performances. I can only think of three games when we have played to our potential all season. - Man City (where I thought we were very lucky), Bradford City and Barnsley.
I have supported City for 41 years and I have never seen such gutless performances from a City team in all that time as I have seen in the last 5 matches.
What we need over and above all else are people who have Sky Blue blood running through their veins and players who really want to wear the shirt. The only players that have worn the shirt with any pride this season are Tommo,Mo Konjic,Safri and Shaw.
I would go for a proven manager at this level to get us out of the division and put him with a coaching staff with a Sky Blue connection - say Ray Graydon with Oggy and Trevor Peake or Cyrille Regis.
They then need to get some experienced first division players, (some tough old dogs) to go with the best youngsters (Eustace, Delorge,Mcsheffrey,Fowler,Davenport) and hopefully keep Konjic and Tommo.
They certainly need to get the right attitude developed throughout the club otherwise it will go from bad to worse.

Yes Nillson and Smith had to go.
Its a shame that Roland has been placed in this position .Yet another own goal by Bryan Richardson in appointing him in the first place. Compounded by the fact that he gave him a long term contract instead of a probationary term until the end of the season.
The financial decline can be traced back to the appointment of Ron Atkinson. When he was brought in , it was stated that he was aware that there was not much cash to work with. But smooth talking Ron had soon loosened the purse strings and managed to waste money in all directions.
Not all was on big purchases but there were a number of situations where money was wasted, people like Ni Lampti spring to mind and yevtushok ( or however you spell it)!
With regard to a manager, we need somone who is up and coming with a knowledge of the lower divisions. Somone who is too nice a guy ( Graydon ? ) will not be the answer nor another manager past his sell by date ( Redknapp?). Neither will getting in getting aged premier division players seeking a final payday help.
Someone who could be the answer as manager is Andy Hessenthaler (Gillingham) or a similar person who is proving his mettle

I don't agree with the sacking of Roland, he was not given a fair crack of the whip. Again, Coventry are using another scapegoat for a poor performance.
At the end of the day, its the players on the pitch. They are all over paid and repeatedly under perform as a team. They all know that they will be paid regardless of how they play. I feel that the answer to the problem could be solved by:
1. Players that want to play for the club, not just for the financial reward.
2. When Coventry buy a new player, they should try playing him in his correct position. 3. Implement a fine system for poor performances.
4. Employ a manager (whoever) who will stand up to the players and reprimand them if they are playing sub-standard.
5. Maybe Coventry should start to run the club as a proper business instead of a club. What employer would keep a poor performer that was costing them money and not being a team player and producing the goods?
I wish Roland all the very best for the future and I am sure he will go somewhere else and produce the goods, the same as many players and managers have done in the past.

Sad to see Roland go, he'll make a good coach one day.
Didn't the run, a form drop off when Richard Money took a step back, and he knows how to get the best out of the good young players we have.
I just worry about having another inexperienced manager, though surely the board must have a replacment lined up before the sacking.

Nilsson seemed a decent guy and was let down by the players. But that's the way it goes in football. It's the manager who gets the sack while players carry on or move to another club with a nice signing on fee.
We need someone with experience and a clear out of players. Hughes is first to go, on Friday he talked after the match about wanting Albion and Blues to be promoted. A shame he didn't feel the same about City and show some effort.

I suggest Trevor Francis, with Barry Fry as his chief scout. They would make the play-offs next year, easy!

Well, I do not agree with the sacking of Roland , he was not given a chance. I did not agree with Jim Smith coming in the first place so I am glad he has gone.
But the problem lies with the players not just the management, they are overpaid and underperforming, at the end of the day they are on the pitch and be paid to perform which they have not done.
If they worked for me I would sack the lot or fine them their wages, that's the trouble they know they get their money no matter how they perform.
A man who can get over 100 caps for his country isn't that bad, I wish Roland all the best for the future and go like so many others and prove this club wrong.
CRAIG BELLAMY ????????? why could he not do it here ?????
There's some thing deeper going on !!!!!!!!!!

There is only one man for this club - Dion Dublin. A man who kept us up with so many vital goals and showed his worth to any club on Friday, when defending was crucially vital

It is sad to see Roly go but I feel it had to be done as the players did not seem know what he wanted them to do.
As for Smith he should have never been bought in as he was a has been. I think we could have a good team next season as there will be a lot of players on frees in a few weeks and looking for clubs and because of the TV money they know they can't hold out for silly money so we could build a good team.
