An estimated two and a half thousand fans turned up at Asda in Spondon for a signing session by boy band McFly.

Tom faces another question

Some fans had camped overnight to be first in the queue to meet Tom, Dougie, Danny and Harry as they paid their first visit to Derby since playing the Assembly Rooms in April last year.

The band managed to complete around 1,500 signatures in two hours - but some fans at the back of the queue went home disappointed.

The group told 大象传媒 Radio Derby's Ed George they were excited to be promoting their new album 'Radio:Active' - their first since leaving Island Records and starting their own label.

The album had previously been given away free with the Mail on Sunday but has now been released for sale in shops.

McFly's Asda appearance follows signing sessions from Cliff Richard and actor Ross Kemp.

The band have enjoyed 15 top ten singles in the UK and five top ten albums.

In their interview with Ed, they talk about their decision to leave Island Records, their recent appearance on Gordon Ramsay's 'The F Word' and their favourite cover versions.
