Justine Fitzjohn sees her looking after around 10,000 people who want to get involved in the running of their local hospital. As the assistant secretary of the Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Justine needs all her organisational skills to keep members happy and maintain the flow of communication from hospital to public. Her job requires her to keep each member's personal record up to date, organise the voting for new trust governors, set up interesting events for members to attend and distribute magazines and literature about the latest developments at the hospital. She explained: "It's a very busy job and very varied. People have a passion for their local hospital and want to have their say on what's good and bad.

Members of the trust have no obligation to attend any meetings but there are regular events and social occasions at which they can exchange ideas about the hospital and provide feedback. Recent events include talks on heart disease the use of hypnotism - and members also get a discount card for bars and restaurants in Derby city centre. Justine said: "It's a nice carrot to dangle but people generally get involved because they want to have their say." last updated: 06/07/2009 at 16:01 SEE ALSOYou are in: Derby > Places > Royal Stories > Royal Stories: The importance of Trust Derby Hospitals websiteThe 大象传媒 is not responsible for external websites |
