i only have 2 words 2 say: Pipeline-amazing!

Ian from Ashburton
Aaron and Vinnie are totally right. The radio programme was great, and everyone was really good, but Bow seemed to be the best. She sounded like she knew who she was, what she wants to do, where she wants to go, and how she wants to get there...a really likeable girl with a great song... I think what speerated her form everyone else was that she was saying something in her song that was real and important... she's a star! Everyone else was good too! Well done! And please lets hear more from these people on more shows like that!!!

Tom from Exeter
I heard the radio show the other night, and I totally agree with Vinnie. Bow Jenkins blew me away! I was totally shocked that someone so young could not only come off best compared with all the other acts, but also write such beautiful and heartfelt lyrics! I hate to admit it but her song 'Say Goodbye' moved me almost to tears! She seemed totally genuine and was a breath of fresh air in her interview... I want to hear more! No other acts impressed me like that, Dan Church was ok but instantly forgettable. The Boys From Melbourne Street were are well past it, but I suppose so long as they know that and don't really take themselves seriously it's ok. I honestly don't know why people are sayng Astra was amusing. I thought her interview was heartbreaking...she's got a good voice but it sounds like she's being ripped off and is totally alone with no advisers...I really do feel sorry for her because she's in a pretty hopeless situation... And the guy from Norman? in my opinion their song was instantly forgettable. And to have been in the USA and be back here telling us how great it went... - if it went that well you wouldn't be back here! He had no idea about the radio situation there. The band memeber that left and started his own band was right to do so... But I suppose at least he's trying... I do think that the radio show was a great idea though, and the 大象传媒 should definately do more on the unsigned acts in Devon. Maybe a half hour to an hour long feature on these people would be better than the 10 minutes they got the other night...They may come off better that way - give us more of a chance to get to know them... Especially with Bow - I really was impressed by her, so an hour would be phenominal! Well done 大象传媒 Devon for bringing these guys to our attention!

David from Exeter
I have recently read the review of the South devon rockers 'Burn' on your website. After visiting their website, I have to say what a breath of fresh air and the best of luck to the guys, they deserve to go far. I suggest people take a look at them SERIOUSLY!!!

Jess, Plymouth
Heard the devon demos show and thought it was great to hear such good talent. Astra Dolphin sounded very good and made me laugh, a very different sound though and I liked it! Bow Jenkins was alright too for someone so young. Dan Church sounded good also. Best of luck to them all.

Aarron. Honiton.
Caught the devon unsigned radio show and loved it. Gotta say Bow Jenkins is star material, superb, powerful, beautiful, pure... keep at it Bow, I want more! More, more and then more still!!!!!! Astra Dolphin, I liked, not sure why though, but a strange and somehow addictive voice, but IMHO I fear you should not part with money to get promoted... I liked the almost Jazz Funk style of Dan Church, but can't see where it goes now... how do you gig with 25 people? Having said that, so what? gig it anyhow you can!!!! Great radio show though, and for sure I'll now be checking this site out from now on! It deomonstrates to me how interesting the artists are that are out there, and it makes a real change from listening to the boring, schooled and manufactured plastics the big labels keep trying to feed us! Well done radio devon, for once I feel my lisence fee did some good!

Vinie in Plymouth
Heard Bow Jenkins on the 大象传媒 the other night and have to say how much I was impressed and moved. A truly great voice, a very likeable kid in interview, and what a song... real lyrics about a real thing. I am well impressed! And creit to John Govier for getting thse guys to air! We need more airtime for these people!

Chris, Exeter
Hi, I listened to the Devon Demos Christmas show and was very impressed by the artists featured, Dan Church was very good. But for me I have to say that Astra Dolphin was the most unique what a great song and a very amusing interveiw I thought. It would be great to here more from this talent. I'll be checking out more on her as we may of found Devon's newest star?!

Amy
Astra Dolphin, wow, what an amazing voice and cool songs, hope she achieves what she deserves.

Paul, Newton Abbot
Steve, I couldn't agree more. These twee girlie singers just don't kick ass.

pip newton abbot
I am the same who recommended this site Bow to you albeit through a freind. You have been the subject of discussion for a few weeks now and I hope that you are still positive about your future and have taken on board all the comments and gained fresh ideas before your next venture into the studio. Some of your supporters and fans have been at best over zealous in their defence of your singing prowess and at worst downright rude and arrogant toward their fellow commenters. If you are aware who these people are my advice would be to enjoy their encouragement but take little notice of their inane offerings as they may end up deluding you.I look forward to hearing your next set Bow and good luck for the future.

Amelia, Leeds
steve from torqui i bet you have heard like 2 jodie jones songs - most of them are quirky tori amis/suzanne vega-ey and really upbeat, so dont judge! tom- you can buy her album at her website, butyouve gott o have paypal :(

Steve. Torquay.
Jodie Jones, sorry but it's like she's a Katie Melua or something. Songs to fall asleep to. Tink and whine, tink and whine.

Steve from Torquay
Okay then Jeff, once again, you don't need to be a producer to know the difference between a sound engineer and a producer, that was my point, a very simple one I thought! Aren't the most emotional fans the 12 year olds anyway? I'm very sorry if I've offended you in suggesting that you were close to Bow, I too share your enthusiasm for her music, I really do. I can accept other people's differing opinions. Did I slag off any artists? No. Look, we both like Bow's music, my only point is that some people won't agree with us and whilst they are as constructive as they all have been, we don't have to come on and insult them! She's got enough fans and people won't be so idiotic to judge Bow's music on whether or not they like her supporters and make up their own minds by listening to her music, I did.

Jeff.
Fro Steve of Torquay. You make strange ane wild assumptions. I don't know any of the artists on this site, and am not related to any, so your assertion that I am "obviously" close or related is wrong... I'm not emotional at all, but "fan" comes from "fanatic" and if you don't think a real fan can get emotional you must be 12 years old or very stupid. If you're 12, it's okay, if you're stupid, it's not. Fans are emotional, and you better believe it. Oh, and before one becomes a surgeon, one must forst become a doctor... before msot people produce, they learn to engineer... I like what I like... I listen to this stuff a lot, I don't slag off artists to gain brownie points from otehr board users, or pretent to know things I don't...

Tom from Newton Abbot
Wow!! i love Jodie Jones..how do i order the album?

Tom, Taunton
Isn't she a bit young? I thought Jodie Jones was like 19? These crazy local stars, think they can get married when they like, record CDs when they like, get record deals when they like...j/k congrats Jodie, if you read this board!!

Rosie, Wimbledon
Congratulations on your engagement, Jodie Jones! I just read the press statement on your website - I am so pleased for you! Love every song on 'All Dressed Up' - you're gona go far its obvious !

Stella, Tavistock

Hi Kev, Nice to see someone talking about OTHER acts. Yes Hombres Impossible and Hub are pretty talented. I have to disagre about Zenn though. I also agree with the other poster about the talents of The Climb,Stephenson's Rocket and Comeg. I'm off to give some more artists a listen and shall report back.

Trimorphous - Exeter.
Hello All, I haven't been on here for a little while but I'm glad I checked it out today. It seems like things are kicking off again! I really wanted to write something from the point of view of an Artist and someone whose music is on this site in order to try and help the situation a little. I've been doing this for 10 years now and one thing that I have learnt is that constructive critism is way more useful then simply being patted on the back all the time. Sure it's nice to have encouragment, but coupled with that there should always be a "but I didn't like that song becasue...." Or similar. You people also have to realise that it is very, very hard to break in to the music industry these days and those that do really do have to be something special. SO when you say it doesn't matter if a someone sings off key or a song isn't quite right - it does! If a record company can ever be bothered to come down to this part of the world to see an artist, that artist will only get one chance to prove themselves to them in a live environment and if it sucks it anyway at all, they won;t show any further interst in that artist. That's the way things are. So yeah, I guess what I'm trying to say is keep critising and stop arguing about it. It's far more usefu to us. Not everyone can be expected to like everything and that is the truth. Many thanks, Adam. P.S. If anyone would like to let us know what they think of us, then please do.

Reese in Newquay
Bow rocks! Spot on Shane... I just listened to her and she's amazing. There's so much positive and good. For me, she's definately one to watch! Amazing talent.

Stan, Sidmouth
Having listened to the other artists on this site (yes there are some) I have to say that the Bands that stand out for me are The Climb, Stephenson's Rocket and Comeg. I don't think I've read any comments about these artists, what does everyone else think?

kev from brixham
hello mery christmas everyone! this is the first time ive viewed this sight after a quick listen to most of the bands i was pretty impressed by the level of talent. The hub, hombres impossible and zenn are the bands that stood out for me. cool rock with good song writing, with songs i could imagine being released and doing pretty well. What do you all think of these three bands?

Tia
Ilike the demo by the Hub,it sounds familiar, has it been on the radio maybe? Does anyone know if any of the acts on this site have any gigs over Christmas?

Steve, Torquay
Message for Peter from London: I'm not a surgeon, but I do know the difference between a surgeon and a doctor, same as I'm not a producer but I know the difference between that and a sound engineer. Also, Jayne's message was polite, articulate, constructive and mostly complementary of Bow, so was Chris from Newton Abbot, but guess what, you saw the negative side of it! And Jeff, you sound patronising and ignorant and it's obvious you are a close friend or family to Bow because a normal fan wouldn't get so emotional about a difference of opinion. Although I do know that the real music fans on here won't judge Bow on your inane comments, they'll have the moral fibre and open mindedness to actually listen to her music first! Just like I did! I really like The Ghost of Johnny Cash, it's a bit like Joss Stone but more rock to it, sounds promising. I've yet to listen to "Wade in the Water" but it must be challenging singing without music! Despite the stupid comments from Jeff and Peter and whoever else I find you interesting and impressive Bow! And I don't mind people disagreeing with me either!! Now please, to all her loyal supporters, try to see the positive side of this email and don't let your own pride get in the way of her success.

Chris
Hi, Astra Dolphin sure has a different sound! Lovin it, has some suff goin on for her too, wicked.

Shane, Kingsteignton
Any of you that are saying that Bow is a bad singer should listen to her version of Sexed Up by Robbie Williams on her web page. If you can tell me that shes bad afterwards, then you don't know about music! PS keep it up Bow, you Rock!

jeff.
so much knowledge in so many peeps! Now you even know the relationships of the posters and commenters to each other... cindy, who are you to say who is who? I don't know anyone on this site and so far have enjoyed the interaction of the knowledgeable posters... or not knowledgeable as the case may be... views are never objective honey... and yours just took the subjective title. I hvaen't listened to date, but I'm off now to listen to Bow and WITRWN... but not rob swann, anyone recommended by Alan of Bideford is a no-no for me... lol.

peter, london.
Bow Jenkins is a talented, soulful, fascinating singer/songwriter. Here's the thing... these kind of sites give everyone a chance to post, and you can be positive or negative, and guess what, you get negative. Jayne, from wherever, are you a producer? Don't respond, I really do't care...Chris from Newton Abbot... as someone else said, grow up and move on! And get lives guys. I have to say I have wondered a while now why people like Joss Stone clear out of devon a.s.a.p... I thought to myself, why not stay and help the scene there grow... then I read all you negative, opinionated people trying to score points off the artists, and make yourself look good, and I know why they leave. Why wouldn't they? You deserve carrot crunchers and banjo's! you don't deserve the artists on this site!

Alan from Bideford
Lol! i only expressed my views on an artist, which i thought the purpose of this message board! i never asked people to agree or argue. Anyway changing the subject i believe Rob Swann is the best... i have seen him live and it was amazing!!

Cindy, Crediton
I thought the whole idea of this site was to give objective views of the artists on here? It's so obvious that the pathetic little band of people who insist on "defending" the slightest negative comment to their band/friend/family member are anything but. If they ever do make a living out of music will you write angry letters to every magazine newspaper that dares to say anything that isn't complimentary? Get a life. These people are entitled to their opinion, tough if you don't like it. It's called being honest. Not everyone is going to think Bow or WITRWN are amazing. Some of us are sick to death of hearing about them. I vote we talk about all the other artists on here and give others a much needed break from the aforementioned.

Jayne
Kenny - I can't belive you're getting all preachy and saying there's no flatness or key-confusion at all, even once, on Bow's album. I don't want to be mean but 'Wade in the Water', for example, has a lot of obvious tone and tuning problems, not that it's her fault, she's only like 14/15 and sounds like a really nice girl with a natural, interesting voice. Also, I'm sure you can be an engineer and not have a good ear, it's not the same as a producer.

chris from newton abbot
Right then Kenny, since you asked, the most apparent track that is a bit flat is "Wade in the water" the one where she sings unaccompanied. (I have a copy of the CD you see) If you want a particular line, pretty much every time she sings "Wade in the water". Now to try and be as constructive as possible, I'd say that the key was a bit too low for her (as I believe has been said before) and her voice doesn't have the quality to sing without backing. If I were to give some advice to Bow, it would be to get some coaching on your voice, you can sing reasonably well and you are not tone deaf, but you definately need to improve if you're going to make it big. Kenny, congratulations on being a sound engineer, but if you can't spot some flat notes on this cd, you should get another job. As well as getting your music heard, this is the reason you should put your music on this site, to get some feedback. Surely the people who tell you you are perfect and don't need to improve are the ones to be "getting in the way". My point about the slate groups was that the people who are making these negative comments are doing it because that is their genuine opinion and not because they know the artist personally and have a dislike for them as a person and have a personal vendetta against them. I don't know Bow personally, I've never met her, I only write what I think of her music. Clear?

Kal. Plymouth
Seriously. Chris from Newton, "if she was an athlete she wouldn't get in the team..."? What are you on boy? You wouldn't know flat if you lived in one! And Alan... oh didums, has some people had a moan at you for your constant crtique? You both wanna grow up! Bow Jenkins, and many of the others on this site are seriously talented and well worth listening to. We are well lucky to have them to listen to and go to their gigs. Enjoy it and keep your bitchin under control, you aint clever, or cool or funny... and your opinions are a pain... in fact, you're actually in the way!

Kenny, Newton Abbot
Bow rocks. No doubt about it, and I reckon you trying to cut her down are being well shallow and cowardly! Now then Chris from Newton Abbot... whoever you rally are, where are the flat notes you speak of, in which tracks? On which lines? I'm interested because you speak with obvious knowledge... I'm even more interested because I have the cd, and I'm a sound engineer! And I'm interested because you go to lengths to state that you are not part of a group out to slate people... then you slate them! You even imply that i might be minnie or whoever else posted... you're not being constructive, you're showboating and trying to be smart... so if you really want to help these artists, buy their cd,s, go to the gigs, and if you think you know how they can improve, email them and tell them, but don't tell me mate because I think Bow is awesome and you're a phony!

Jono
hello? there ARE other artists on this site - ones that no-one's talking about coz they're 2 busy going on and on about bow jenkins(no offense bow) - please, someone, talk about someone else!! how bout everyone says their single favourite on this site - ill start - who'z in the room with norman!

Jack from Exeter
Hi, i think all of this is getting a bit petty over Bow and it's about time someone puts this into context. If 2% of the notes she sings are wrong (and 2% is about right coz i've listened to it and there aren't many bum notes) then 98% of the notes are right! And to be fair, shouldn't we be listening to the words more than the notes?! Everyone gets notes wrong, and i read in an interview by her that she only had a week to record and mix all of it, and she was only 14 at the time! The quality is great considering how little time, money, and resources she had to do it. So can we all stop using this board like a teen bitch fest and start acting respectfully towards these artists?! They're all giving it a shot, trying to get something out of life, and refusing to be defeated by the likes of us old farts that have nothing better to do than to write long and repetitive comments about the same point! Move on people! And constructive criticism is NOT saying 'that note is flat' it would be saying that 'at this point in this song there is a note that sounds flat to me, and it could be solved/better if...' The artists should be able to read this board and get real feedback that will help them, not comments that will dishearten them or make them feel like this board is a public toilet door! Stop writing to eachother and write something that the musicians will want to read. Otherwise the point of this board is, well, pointless!

chris from newton abbot
This is a message to Kenny and Minnie (or Kennyminnie). It has already been established and actually encouraged by the host of this message board that negative critisism is all part and parcel of putting your music out there (as long as it is constructive). The recent critisism of Bow Jenkins would not have been allowed onto the message board if it wasn't constructive. This site is an opportunity to get a public review of your music, the critisism is supposed to help you improve, if you don't do that, then the "cynical critics" will never know about you anyway. This is only the first hurdle and in order to get over it, you have to cope with whatever may fly at you. I'm sure that no one is being vindictive about Bow, most of the critics won't know her so why would they? It seems highly unlikely that Bow or any of the other acts have a closely knit group who are out to slate them on this site, if that is the case, then I'm certainly not a member. Also, I don't believe that it is a matter of opinion whether or not a note is flat, it either is or it isn't and in some cases with Bow, it definately is. Well written songs and plenty of time to improve. It is impressive that she's written all these songs at such an early age, but the record companies won't care if there's somebody older and better. If she was an athlete, she certainly wouldn't get into a team because of this. PS, how long has Bow been 15 years old, because it seems quite a while now?

Alan from Bideford
wow! Im impressed that everyone has stood up for Bow, but i think its a little pathetic that when someone expresses a view that is different to the norm they are shouted down and told to group up.If everyone thought the same then life would be a little boring.

Kenny. Newton Abbot.
I like Bow Jenkins. Her music moves me. Her voice moves me. Her lyrics move me. I have bought her album, I will buy her next one. I am proud of another devon based singer/songwriter making a real go of it, without the backing and money of the Dido and Joss Stone people some of you keep harping on about. When I hear her voice, I hear one voice, not layers of voices... I hear what I would hear if I saw her live... a rare thing... Indie music is about people like Bow Jenkins and the others on this site and sites like it, and while they may or may not read the comments posted here, we should keep our words positive and encouraging, they are embryonic acts and it is up to us to help them grow by buying their cd's and going to their gigs... now if you aint gonna say something good, don't bother! Anyone can spout from the shadows and feel clever, these artists have put themselves out there and deserve credit and gratitude... or all we're left with is what the marketing men and A&R people feed us!

minnie- Plymouth
Bow Jenkins is a superb, developing talent, and you guys, this board is about a place where people can express positive views, not a message board for Simon Cowell wannabe's! Listening is subjective and the opinions we form are subjective... but we should be positive and supportive, not destructive or vindictive,,, the local artists we have in devon will meet the synical critics soon enough, we should support them 100% not try to pull them down. And it seems to me that the people posting are making strange assumptions... why assume Bow Jenkins supporters or any other artist or their supporters has responded when they may have not? And why assume Bow would want someone to introduce themselves at a gig just because you post on this board? I don't know any of the artists on this board, but this board is about the artists, not the people who post... abuse it and it will ruined, so grow up.

Kaz from Torquay
Thanks Mark - I've listened to most of the artists on this site and visited a few of their web sites and seen a few live. I like Rob Swann and Hombres Impossible, seen both live and they were really good.

Mark Tiverton
Kaz from Torquay; you have spoken very articulately on the subject of the rights of the individual to express their opinions freely which is absolutely correct and you were obviously around when the WITRWN debate was going on but I cannot see any other comments on who you think is worth a listen on here. Perhaps its Bow?. Let us know.

bee, shebbear (currently rockin' up bangor
has anyoneone heard of 2 foot giant, think they are a local band, cos my mate is obsessed!!! cheers!!

Alan from Bideford
i would just like to say thank you to kaz from Torquay! i was not trying to put Bow down, i was merely expressing my views. The real would won't be so kind and if Bow is to make it big she will have to put up with harsher critism than i have written.

jon from silverton
Jackie: I agree, you don't hear people saying 'Springsteen's got a great voice - never misses a note' because the songs he writes for his voice he is more than capable of performing.Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix never set the world alight with their singing abilities but they have had other musical statements to make. Bow's problem is that she writes and sings ballads which rely heavily on the quality of the singer's voice which must be spot on from start to finish. It will be down to the listeners to decide for themselves if that has been achieved. Finally Kaz from Torquay you have hit the nail firmly on the head, well said.

Jed. bude
I think Bow Jenkins is a massive talent and serious class. Her lyrics are poetry, her voice is soulful and ageless... and so many other acts featured on this site kick! Of course everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I just hope the peeple who are writing comments about the artists whose work is on this site here are also buying their cd's and making the effort to go see them when they play live! If we want indie music to survive, we have to do our bit, not just sit and procrastinate and pass comment! we have to do our bit too! I was at a gig last month where two seriously good bands played to about 10 people... so get your bums off the sofa's and get out there!

Sam from Teignmouth
Bow: I really hope that I have not offended you as I appear to have those near to you. I was trying to be wholly constructive and encouraging as I belive you to have a strong talent. I am confident that your voice will improve and you can look back at your debut and put it down to Innocence and Inexperience. Also, please let us know where you are playing live as I will come to see you with my boyfreind and introduce myself.

Kaz from Torquay
Interesting comments on Bow Jenkins and previously WITRWN. If an artist puts themselves on this website, or indeed in the public eye in any way, then surely they accept that they will get comments both from the people who like what they are doing and the people who don't. Pity people who comment on this site can't think the same without having a go at others who don't happen to share their own views. What one person hears as flat another may not - how can you say they are wrong or that they don't know what they are talking about for that? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, people who like McFly don't necessarily like Tom Jones - so what? Both have fans who would say they are the best. It's all very subjective after all. Any comment is worth reading and I would hope that the artist involved would take note of what the punters hear and be aware of it even if they don't agree with it. Feedback is healthy both positive and negative - how else can you gauge what people think? Everything you do as an artist won't be brilliant, the first thing you do will hopefully be improved upon, surely detailed comment of any kind is more useful to an artist than endless platitudes. Can't people accept that others have different opiinions and not feel they have to rush to put them down, it's one thing supporting an act it's another to expect everyone to agree with you.

A Fan from Devon
Ok folks, Did you see Astra Dolphin's article in the Mid Devon Advertiser the other week her song 'Take Me' is Wicked, and her songs style are quite unique. Loved the comment on her Elflin looks - shes rocks.

lilly- blackheath
Bow sings superb. No mistake. Who are the peole who go on this site and make comments that they cant back abd dont stack up? Joss stone and dido? Whats the relevence? You compare Bow to them why? Cos she's female? Bow is majesty! Nothin from other performers, but people who write stuff need to put up or shut up! I hear Bow and I hear somthin way up on other woman songsters! You guys should be proud of her! And get to see her man, pretty soon I reckon she'll be London bound! We will appreciate her!

jimmy from newquay
interesting to read the comments bout Bow Jenkins,,, I think she is seriously special. She has written and recorded her own album, has an amazing voice, and performs live... and is 15 or 16 years old,,, I think we should be in awe... as an aging 22 year old roadie and muso mylsef, I can absolutely say for sure that what Bow has already acheived is major mojo, and her voice, style and lyrics are special enough to take her wherever she wants to go... Bow Jenkins is very special, mark my words!

Jackie from Plymouth
Hi! To be honest, I think people will pick holes in anything. To say that you don't know what you're listening for (with regards to Bow Jenkins) suggests that you're listening for notes that are wrong! Surely you should be listening to the beauty of the song, the meaning, the lyrics, the music, the magic?! I too have listened to Bow's songs, and I reckon almost everything is just right! So what if there's notes that are slightly off?! The fact that she can get away with it and it doesn't detract from the song is an amazing thing if I'm being honest! I'm saddened that people seem to judge artists firstly on what could be wrong - not looking for what makes it great! Surely you don't think that people like Bruce Springsteen are judged on their voice?! He's possibly one of THE greats out there, and you never hear...'That Springsteen's got a great voice - never misses a note!' Instead you hear, 'Wow, what songs, what emotion, what a talent he has!' If the story being told is great,, then the notes don't have to be! And it isn't just Springsteen - every legendary artist is in no way legendary because they never missed a note! So leave Bow alone!

paul from exmouth
hello bex from crediton, who was your comment about?

Bex from Crediton
Pretty cool, your style sorta reminds me of Muse...but very good

Sam from Teignmouth
Bow's age cannot be ignored. Her songs are very well structured and her lyrics are very mature. It is her ability to perform her songs that shows her youth. When she learns how to sing with her music which should come with experience then she will blossom. It does sound like she is singing flat but I believe she is singing off key which with practice and hard work she should improve.I also believe that that the pitch she has chosen for her voice is not natural for her and when she occasionally slips into a normal pitch which is higher then she hits the notes spot on.You have time on your side Bow and, it appears, a lot of people around you who'll support you all the way which is great. Well done and keep on knocking on that door.

Alan from Bideford
All critism is good critism. if Bow wanted to go proffessional then she would have to compete with the likes of Dido and Joss Stone. while yes im sure they have hit the wrong notes, they have something different and that is why theyve made it big. Im sorry if you cant here some wrong notes in the album then you dont know what your listening for. im not saying shes awful just that she needs to improve. and the fact that she is only 15 works to her advantage as she has plenty of time to improve. And i never said the lyrics were bad i said they were impressive for a girl of 15. Which, i consider to be a good thing no?

Hollie Newton Abbot
Hi, I'm Rob Swann's younger sister, and after his recent departure to Exeter University, I have hardly seen him!! And i'd just like to mention that the most recent few songs he's sent are phenominal, i find it hard to believe he can continue to create new and original material after those he has already successfully written. perhaps i'm biassed, but see for yourselves, keep it up Rob!! and i can't wait for your next gig!! P.S all my mates year 11 at school are humming your tunes, and all want to be your Number one fan!!

Ben from Exmouth
I saw Alan's comment and would just like to say, why would Bow want to compete with the likes of Joss Stone and Dido? While they're talented singers in their own right, so's Bow! I've listened to her album loads of times and I haven't heard a single note wrong or off key! And do you seriously think that Joss or Dido don't hit notes wrong?! Bow's an incredibly talented artist with a lot more talent than most. As for her age, that shouldn't even come into play! Those lyrics are brilliant for someone of 50, let alone 15!

Alan from Bideford
I think its impressive that Bow Jenkins has written all her songs at 15, yet i think she needs to work on her vocals. not being rude but if she wants to compete with the likes of Joss Stone or Dido, shes gonna have to work on hitting the right notes n singing in key, just a thought.

Will, Devon.
I would just like to big up Kris Barras of who'z in the room with norman? His long over due success is kicking off and i wish him all the best! Dear All, GOB, a new monthly night in Exeter, is currently looking for bands and DJ's for its 2006 calender. If anyone is interested in securing a slot please send demos/mixes to: Adam Bonner 121 fore street Heavitree Exeter Devon EX1 3BR All styles and genres are accepted. Thank you. Adam.

Chrissie from Exeter
Totally agree with you Will! Bow is great!!! I bought her album a few months ago and I haven't got bored of it! Although I am glad to hear she's working on a second - more acoustic and intimate- album...The musicianship on her current album is really really good, but there's occasionally too much of it... Somehow that doesn't detract from her voice, lyrics and message though! I love the way she sings with such tenderness and yet is somehow still so powerful! It's strange that the demo on here is The Ghost Of Johnny Cash because that's definately not her strongest song... but then again the lyrics are awesome so maybe that's why it's there...plus it's totally different to all the others on her album! I must say I think she's a bit too gorgeous though! I'm jealous! I saw her walking through Exeter the other week and she stood out from the crowd so much it was hard not to notice her! Definately got star quality!!! Love to all!

Roland, Plymouth
Just wanted to say that it's wicked that Eleven are getting some recognition at last and good luck to them for the gig on Friday night in London. Go on lads, show'em how it's done!

Will from Torquay
I saw Bow Jenkins in Mid Devon Advertiser and would just like to say that she seems great! I've listened to her music (and ordered it!) and, for once, all the hype is for a genuine reason...She really is amazing, and her music is phenominal... I'm so happy there's still a real talent out there! I look forward to the next album! Bow is the REAL DEAL!

joanne, torquay
hi there! i went to the artsbase award thing last saturday at club moloko and i hve to say it was a great night of musical entertainment. there was 2 stages and the whole nigyht flowed well. the acoustic acts like runtle & co and others provided a great atmosphere. the band stage was great too. the highlight seemed to be the zenn set, playing new songs and showing a more mature and different sound to their usual. 80's band the morrisons played some of their old work too, that also went down well with the old indie crowd. thumbs up all round!

roger sayer
Flowerbed-Hi Dave,it's Roger ere AKA Mervin Suncrust!! I was,as I knew I would be,very impressed with your track-I'd like to hear more.I will let you have a copy of my CD "Diary" shortly.

Dave from Axminster
Listened through some of the bands and found a few good sounds. I was very impressed with the Steve Bonsai Band "Colours Within". I thought the music was strong and the lyrics well written. It just goes to show, you don't have to be signed up to sound good.

Trimorphous

Hi Trimorphous, Thankyou so much for saying that you would be willing to help me with my uni project but where can i get your email address from so I can contact you

Roland, Plymouth
Hey Amanda, why don't you contact the ELEVEN from barnstaple. They're starting to gig up in London and getting lots of good reactions. Who better than a growing band from your hometown? check out their website (there's a link on their Devon Demos page) to contact them and good luck with the degree Cheers, Roland

Julie , Devon
In reply to Amanda from Barnstaple. If you'd like to check out Astra Dolphin's website and leave your details in her guestbook I'm sure she will be willing to help as she has recently signed a deal with an independent label. Also check out Jodie Jones website too. Click on A-Z Devon Demos on this page which will give you links to their sites and many other up and coming acts from Devon. Thanks.

S. Devon
In repy to Tom, most musicians like Astra Dolphin & Jodie Jones usually have another job running aside their musical commitments, unless they are getting paid gigs all the time or have fianical backing from a Major label or promotion/management company... If so then they can really focus on their music writing/recording and performing. Good luck to them they are doing a grand job so far. watch this space... Thanks.

Trimorphous
Hi Amanda, Yes we would be interested. Please e-mail us and we can take things further. I look forward to hearing from you. Adam Trimorphous

Amanda from Barnstaple

Kim, Tqy.
I would just like to say i had a great night watching who'z in the room with norman? last sunday. Was a great night, apart from not getting to the bar quick enough coz it was so bloody packed! Norman, Kris you ROCK!

Tom, South Devon
Okay, so for ages you'll hear from a certain band/artist like Jodie Jones in the summer, or Astra Dolphin at the moment, but then they disappear away again, what's that about? Are they getting signed or recording albums? Or are they working other jobs? It's sad if they're having to spend all their energy of working at pizza hut or something, when they're so talented and could go so far

chris from newton poppleford
Saw Steve Bonsai Band at the HCPT concert at the Manor in Sidmouth, what a great performance. Can't wait for the album to come out. Much enjoyed OchreLane and White Lies as well. What a night out.

John, From Devon.
I'm posting this comment for Kris Barras from the much talked about who'z in the room with norman? 'congrats!' Kris will be performing masterclass's in rock techniques and also playing tracks from his forthcoming instumental albam at the prestigious 'music live' event at the NEC in Birmingham this weekend. Im really glad that this young man is getting herd more widespred for his guitar playing and a place at this event is rightly earned. Finally will be looking out for your advanced instructional dvd with 'chops from hell' should be awesome especially with that awesome website. So nice one Kris keep it up, its very rare to see such talent credit to you. Cheers. (p.s) John- great site! Its great to see such talent on the ever growing Devon Demos.

Trimorphous
Dear All, Trimorphous have two gigs in Exeter coming up. This Friday we are supporting the Toretz, Upstairs at the Globe Inn, Newtown. Doors 7:30pm.

We are also performing two half house sets at Timepiece Bar on 07/11/05. Please come and support us.

Chris Smith
Every so often, there are comments posted about how great a certain act are (like the one below), but the name of the act has not been mentioned, so we don't know who you're talking about! Anyway, that Hombres Impossible track really has some balls - a gritty and snarling classic. Instantly likeable with the drums, bass and vocals giving the song some real umph. This is what an unsigned band of that genre should sound like, even if he does sound ever so slightly like Liam Gallagher.

Francis from Umberleigh
a vibrant super tight live band with a great line up of musicians...must see

Will, Devon.
Kris from norman? makes that band he is the star and of course the 1 who has made it all happen, but 1 thing that needs to be said he is a mainiac on guitar and in my opinion big things will happen for this talented guitarist. Best of luck.

Neil from Barnstaple
Just discovered Bow Jenkins, and gotta say, AMAZING! Wow, and AMAZING! oh, and AWESOME! Wow... those are really the only words that describe her!

Karen
I'd like to leave a message for Astra Dolphin. Good luck with your music ventures hope everything goes well for you. All the best. Karen

jen barnstaple
junction 27 are the best band around why are you not giving them ant space? they don't have big money behind them-is that why?

Reply from Host: Hi Jen, so far Junction 27 either haven't entered a demo or are currently being processed. The band are welcome to apply to the site using the instructions on the main page.

James From Exeter
I saw Trimorphous at the Angel last night and they rocked! A really interesting sound. I highly recommend going to see them if you get the chance.

Adam, Exeter
Just to let everyone know that 'Astra Dolphin' has a download single release this week - the Track is called 'Take Me'. Please show your support as earlier this year Astra signed a record deal with an independent company and this is her first release. Thanks for your support.

Trimorphous

Jeff from B/ham
Just a reminder that Stephensons Rocket have now changed there name to Vitriolic.

Amy, Torquay
I saw the dan church experience at the spinning wheel in Paignton and they were aaaaaammmmmaaaazzzziiiinnnggg. Sexy frontman. When are you playing next. I need to know now X

Paul Jones from Brixham
I had to write in and say what a great gig I went to last night. I happened to be in Newton Abbot and caught The Dan Church Experience at the Jolly Farmer. These guys Rock! It鈥檚 so great to see a band enjoying themselves and playing their own material with such conviction and passion. There are too many covers bands out there that shy away from doing something different. These guys are excellent musicians with great vocals from the front man Dan and playing from the rest of the band. If you haven鈥檛 seen them already, I urge you to check them out. Thanks for a great night. Paul Jones, of Brixham

Jess, Exeter.
Hi all, for anyone in Exeter who hasn't seen 'Whoz in the room with Norman?'yet they're playin' at The Longbrook in St. Thomas' on the 22nd Oct. Go check 'em out - THEY'RE AWESOME !

Phil from Exeter
Hey, just wanted to say that i think that the trimophous track is brill! Does anyone know when they are playing live soon?

Pete, Exeter
Hi, I agree, I think that John Peel Day should of been arranged for perhaps the weekend then more musicians would of turned up! But I'm still glad that some musicians bothered to do something anyway, so good on them. Plus saw the review in the paper.

warren/merseyside
Stumbled across the carnaby on here and would just like to say i love their track that is demo'd on here, very impressed!

Leanne, Torquay.
I would just like to say i think that who'z in the room with norman? arent that bothered about getting signed, its not number1 priotrity although it would go down very nice! All i can say is that their demo on here is good i like it, but like all artists famous or not they all grow as musicians and singers and therefore the music will always be improving and that is exactly what who'z in the room with norman? have done. Their demo is an easy going track, but their lastest material is tighter, as they have improved themselves as musicians. Like someone else said i think all of this who'z in the room with norman? talk, the unnessesary stuff should be put to rest and lets concentrate about the MUSIC!!

Jamie from Sidford
Seriously, that last comment from "Jamie from Sidford" was not from the same Jamie from Sidford (myself)that wrote the previous comments. Someone has obviously decided they can carry on my train of thought as I have yet to meet another Jamie in Sidford. Anyway, to clear up what I actually think: WITRWN are a good, entertaining band who have many fans who are as keen to get them signed as the band themselves. Having said that, if I were a recording contractor and were to read this message board with all their fans making excuses and having a go at everyone who has a difference of opinion, I would immediately think they were a pub band with a few mates as their followers. And as you've already conceded, their demo doesn't represent their current quality (which sounds to me like you're saying it's rubbish) I would have little reason to want to see them live. It would be a shame if you gave somebody that impression about the band you love, a change of tactics is required I think.

Paul from Exmouth
The Hub track sounds really good lots of energy, deffinately going to look out for there live gigs.

David from Torquay
I think the reason more people didn't turn up 4 the Joh Peel day thing in Exeter is because it was at a pretty inconvenient time - most people (even Musicians!) are at work or school at that time...Had it been in the evening there would've been a better turn-out. Also, please can we start to ackowledge all the other talented people on here that deserve a mention, like Bow Jenkins and Jodie Jones to name a few... Norman are taking up way too much time, and they aren't as good as everyone makes out! Cheers!

Duke, from Cornwall.
Where is all the love gone from this site? Lets all just hate norman? bcoz they have lots of msgs from their fans! ha ha makes me laugh! p.s big up stephenson's rocket!

Simon, from Exeter.
Jamie, why do you continue the rediculous norman? debate? People come on this site to express whether they like or dont like a band not to debate that the msgs they have recieved are boring! What are you on mate!?? And yeh, your well entitled to your opinion (sometimes people have too much of an opinion) but lets keep it about the MUSIC, after-all thats what all the acts live and breath for on this site and so do most of their followers. As a music junkie myself, i salute anyone who goes out there who can sing or play and instrument, its not easy, especially when there are people soon to turn around and pick out all your bad points. Who'z in the room with norman? are not my cuppa tea im a more heavy metal kinda guy but i hold my hands up to them coz i sure as hell couldnt do what they do and i couldnt handle all the s**t they get on here. So best of luck guys! keep at it and to all other acts/bands of devon demos good luck aswell! Cheers.

Sue From Torquay,Devon.
Jamie, why do you continue to pursue on about witrw norman?? For people who dont really like witrw norman? and hate to see them in the lime-light i can 'kinda' see how a constant streem of +ve msgs for them could become boring. However this small minded-ness needs to stop really, in the past there have been msgs for other acts on here who i dont like, but i have absolutley NOTHING against their fans expressing how much they like their band/act. Why do so many people have problems with witrw norman recieving good msgs? Are they hurting you? You rightly have your opinion, and are entitled to like/dislike any of the bands on here, but why should the fact that others actually like them bother you!? If you like them say why if you dont say why and try to be constructive, all of this in between nonsence is a waste of time! Right onto the music, im off my soap box now and i would just like to say that i went to see Astra at the John Peel day in Exeter and also thought she was excellent! Fabulous!

Mike, From Paignton.
'Jamie' i think you are becomming quite the entertainment with your comments, let alone the norman comments! What is it that makes you think such comments? Honestly your views plez?

jamie sidford
If devon demos were to hold a vote and the categories were: best band, best singer, best guitarist, best drummer,e.t.c. then the norman boys would win.If a ballot was held for worst band, worst guitarist,e.t.c. then they would win those also. This is brought about because of the inane comments which are consistantly being posted by a collection of their fans which are boring the pants off almost everyone else. You either love em or hate and not much inbetween and not down to the band but their fans.I have met Kris and he seems a good kid but I bet he rues the day that he advertised this site on his own website.Having said all that it makes life interesting

Sarah(20) from bristol
First of all, I would just like to thank "whoz in the room with norman" for an entertaining night at the spinning wheel, i first heard this band back last year sometime and immediatley fell hook line and sinker for there excellent performance, i've only heard them once since then, and was pleased yet again with the fantastic show, i even got up and had a little dance, and my drunk dad embarrased me abit by giving my number to the bass guitarist,"yep sorry about that"! well anyway good luck with the second album and i hope i will be able to see whoz in the room with norman again sometime. x

Mary from Exeter
Shame a few more musicians didn't turn up for John Peel Day but Astra Dolphin did a great performance.

jake from chudleigh
decent track, keep it up.
