A free two day event at Alum Chine beach in Bournemouth celebrates the inspirational creations of local children and young people involved with a local arts organisation, the Bournemouth and Poole Cultural Hub. Help playing audio/video Hubworld kicked off with the schools involved taking part in a music and costumed procession down the Chine, leading to an area of the beach full of Sandworlds - individually themed interactive areas created by young people featuring different elements of performance including dance, drama, storytelling, animation and film. As the pictures from the first day of the event show, despite the damp weather, the schoolchildren involved put on an impressive range of performances and displays. 'Brings the curriculum to life'Festival organiser Antony Waller says: "Hubworld is all about where we live and where we come from. Alum Chine and the beach seem to hold such a special significance for so many people that it was chosen as the site for this celebration. "Children from all around the area are buzzing with ideas, working with their teachers and artists to create their 'Sandworlds' on the beach. "They are turning these ideas into extraordinary events and performances that the public can delight in." Teacher Kaye Spratt from Haymoor Middle School in Poole said: "Events like this are so vital because it brings the curriculum to life. It makes children inspired by what they do - it really means something to them."
