School ReportYou are in: Essex > School Report > One dream, one broadcast, one day Pupils developed their filming skills One dream, one broadcast, one dayMillie and Gemma, Year 9 "Hello, and welcome to CCTV News..." That was the line repeated over and over again last week by Miriam and Will, the anchors for Colne Community TV (CCTV) on 大象传媒 News School Report day. The reporting started with the basics, right from gathering the latest stories to creating a storyboard for our reports. We travelled all over Tendering to make sure we had the BEST stories for the day.
University challengeWe headed for the University of Essex, which became the birthplace for some of our reports and gave us a chance to practice filming. Once there, we were privileged enough to meet sports scientists, students and staff and we discovered stories we wouldn't have found anywhere else. We quizzed students and teachers alike on subjects from the Olympics to the recession, asking for their views on the subjects that matter. Knife CrimeThen on to knife crime, what a subject! And, of course, handled by the only two for the job, us, Gemma and Millie. But on a serious note, knife crime is a growing problem all over the world, according to the media. Interviewing PC Danny Harris about knife crime So we made it our job to express that through our report. We interviewed PC Danny Harris from Brightlingsea's Police Station, to ask him about this issue and how it has affected our small community. He answered the important questions we needed to complete and story and provided us with the help we needed. He explained to us that knife crime is not a big problem in Brightlingsea and we left reassured. Beautiful BrightlingseaAnother immense story we covered was the credit crunch holiday. We trekked down to the beach in the freezing cold and spoke to Tendering District Councillor Pierre Oxley. He told us why we should all stay at home in Brightlingsea this summer: it's cheap, it's fun and it's got a Blue Flag (which means it's clean!). Pupils interview district councillor Pierre Oxley Following on from that story we came up with our own chant to persuade residents to stay at home this summer: the place to be is Brightlingsea! 大象传媒 News School Report, what an experience!Full of fun, laughs and, of course, free food. But don't worry, we achieved so much in the limited time we had. News reports, outside broadcasts, the works. We travelled to different places to shoot our reports and interviewed some really fascinating people. We learnt skills that will stay with us for life and rode one heck of a roller coaster.听 One dream, one broadcast, one busy day!
