Metronomy have done nothing to disprove their reputation as inventive electro-artisans with their most recent return to the airwaves. This time round, Joe Mount and his band of merry musicians have been writing songs about haircuts and reservoirs, while their fans have been pointing smartphones at the heavens in the hope of unleashing comeback single I'm Aquarius from the group's The Night Sky app.
The four-piece have no shortage of fans at 6 Music towers. Marc Riley and Steve Lamacq have supported the band since album one and we even invited Metronomy to play our 6 Music Night at 2009's 大象传媒 Electric Proms alongside fellow Festival performer Jimi Goodwin, who headlined the event with Doves.
In between albums Mount kept busy working with Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts, not to mention a series of impressive remixes, including Lady Gaga's You And I, Gorillaz's El Ma帽ana and Franz Ferdinand's Do You Want To.
Fourth album Love Letters is released shortly after the Festival, and the frontman describes it as the "best thing he has ever done". We're certainly looking forward to them lighting up their shirts and our night on Friday.
