The elderly Richard Strauss recaptured the elegant, bittersweet spirit of Mozart in his Oboe Concerto 鈥� and it鈥檒l make a ravishing showcase for the 大象传媒SO鈥檚 own principal oboe Tom Blomfield. Tchaikovsky鈥檚 final symphony couldn鈥檛 be more different: an impassioned musical autobiography, pulsing with great melodies and raw emotion. It should be an overwhelming climax to a concert that begins 鈥� according to Helen Grime - amid the mystery and magic of 鈥渢olling bells, high-spun moon and the indifference of night鈥�.
