Concert Information

John Wilson returns to the Bridgewater Hall to continue our season-long Vaughan Williams celebration with two symphonies inspired by two very different environments. We start at the South Pole in the company of Captain Robert Scott for the Sinfonia antartica, an immensely evocative work part-drawn from music Vaughan Williams wrote for the 1948 film Scott of the Antarctic. And then we’re rather closer to home for the London Symphony – a colourful portrait of our bustling capital in the years before the First World War.

*This concert is part of Toward the Unknown Region – RVW150.

To mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of one of England’s greatest composers, Ralph Vaughan Williams, we join forces with the Hallé to present a complete symphonic cycle. Scroll down to find out more.*
