- Proms Session: Chineke!
About This Event
大象传媒 Proms Sessions, run in partnership with Royal Albert Hall Education & Outreach, are a series of free workshops and masterclasses which offer young people the opportunity to work with some of the fantastic artists appearing at the Proms. The Sessions aim to develop the skills and confidence of aspiring young musicians while giving them a unique opportunity to work closely with world class artists in the intimate setting of the Elgar Room or on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall.
At this session with musicians from Chineke!, the UK鈥檚 first majority BME orchestra, young musicians aged 11-18 will have the chance to explore a brand new work by composer Hannah Kendall, 'The Spark Catchers', ahead of its world premiere at Prom 62. Together with musicians from Chineke!, poet Lemn Sissay and the composer herself, you鈥檒l workshop extracts from 'The Spark Catchers' and create your own version to perform to an audience of friends and family on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall!
This is a practical, creative session open to orchestral instrumentalists aged 11-18 of a Grade 6 standard (or equivalent) or above. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate pianists or guitarists at this workshop.
