Turrentine Jones proudly claim to be ‘the antithesis of contemporary music’. The alt-rock and blues group (Julian Neville, Thomas Scotson, Rich Watts) formed in 2010 after Australian-born frontman Neville went searching for bandmates in Manchester. They played their first gig that summer and have been picking up fans ever since, releasing their debut EP The Singles in February.

The trio are regularly compared to The Animals thanks to their indulgence in a Hammond organ sound and Neville’s distinctive voice, which he matches with wit, warmth and a spoonful or two of suggestion in his lyrics. Other notable influences include Velvet Underground, Booker T and the MGs and The Seeds.
