23-year old Tom Higham and 19-year old Ben Fletcher form Aquilo, an alternative electronic duo from the Lake District.

Starting their individual musical careers in rival rock bands in the Lake District, neighbours Tom and Ben decided to look closer to home, pairing up with each other and taking a drastic musical shift towards glorious down-tempo electronica. And you would think that the duo had always been together when you listen to the slick and impressive production on tracks I Don’t Want To See It and You There, with the latter being tipped by Huw Stephens as his Introducing track of the week, and even by Lily Allen!

Tom and Ben’s mutual love of production and the influential surroundings of the serene and solitude Lake District have developed their minimal electronic approach, with a sense of some influences from The xx in their production arrangement, as well as a hint of the quiet intensity displayed by London Grammar. So if you’re a fan of these acts, you won’t want to miss Aquilo on the Introducing Stage on Saturday.
