This year’s festival kicks off with Tchaikovsky’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ Fantasy-Overture before Sol Gabetta performs Elgar’s Cello Concerto. Finally, hear one of the greatest cantatas of the 20th century – Prokofiev’s 'Alexander Nevsky'.

Tchaikovsky’s symphonic work inspired by The Tempest opens the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Symphony Orchestra’s third Prom, before a world premiere by Anthony Payne and Ray Chen’s performance of Bruch’s Violin Concerto

Mahler’s ¸éü³¦°ì±ð°ù³Ù-³¢¾±±ð»å±ð°ù is paired with Mozart’s Mass in C minor – the ‘Great’. Soprano Carolyn Sampson and bass Matthew Rose are among the soloists. They’re joined by the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and conducted by Ilan Volkov.

Tenor Juan Diego Flórez brings music by Verdi, Donizetti and Rossini to the Last Night. Also on the programme: Vaughan Williams’s Serenade to Music, Butterworth’s On the Banks of Green Willow and Britten’s Matinées musicales. Sakari Oramo conducts.
