Advice:Much of this walk is on tarmac, however part of the route on grass is uneven and can get muddy in bad weather, so an alternative is suggested for wheelchair users and buggies. It's mainly on flat ground with one short steep descent on the main route.
In Brief:You might not think of Gloucester as being coastal but the tidal waters of the River Severn flow here, and the famous docks, once bustling with commercial shipping, are now busy with pleasure boats. We take you on a walk around the city's waterways.
Start:Start from Gloucester Docks (signposted "Historic Docks" from main road approaches to Gloucester City Centre, and also from Gloucester railway and bus stations).
Points of interest:See Gloucester's historic docks, explore the wildlife in a secluded nature reserve right on the city's doorstep, discover the famous disused bridge built by Thomas Telford, and view one of the natural wonders of the UK - The Severn Bore!
More info:This is a circular three mile route along footpaths close to Gloucester City Centre. There are eight stopping points highlighted on the walk.
