Bringing
a book as well known as The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to life
on stage isn't easy, particularly as it involves journeys through
time and space and a world populated by talking animals.
The challenge has been taken up by the Courtyard Youth Theatre in
a show that will involve more than 200 children.
Director Caroline Peachey has the tough job of bringing the land of
Narnia, created by CS Lewis, to life.
She's also breaking that old theatrical rule about never working with
children and animals - especially talking animals.
This means bringing to life not just talking animals, dwarves, fauns
and centaurs, but also an enchanted world on the verge of a great
battle between good and evil.
The show has original music composed by The Courtyard鈥檚 resident musical
director Rab Handleigh and a professional technical team in the wings.
The show promises to deliver a family treat where fantasy and excitement
collide.
Performances start on the 23rd of April. |
