This stoy was submitted to the Peoples War site by Esther Gardner of North Dorset Volunteer and Community Action on behalf of Rose Canning and has been added to the site with her permission. The author fully understands the site's terms and conditions.

During the war I had a friend who lived in London and who was working with young children, She had a teenager helping her at the time who was wasn't older than about 14 or 15. One morning this girl turns up holding what turned out to be a bomb, of course she had no idea what it was! My friend, thinking fast on her feet carefully took it away from her, not letting on that it was a bomb for fear of it being dropped! With much haste she walked all the way to the nearest police station holding this lethal object which was swiftly detonated upon arrival.
