my great grandads experience in the war
people fought all over the wolrd in the second world war,my great grandad was one of them. i dont know much detail about my grandad as he passed away a long time ago, and i havent got very many people to ask about him. my great grandad came from workington near cockermouth in cumbria his full name was William james Luthwaight, and he had a daughter called margret. he also had a wife and we called her nana nel. my great grandad was in the war for 6 yrs as he was called up in 1939 and finished in 1945. his main role in the war was being in the gunners royal horse artilery, he was also in the kings own royal borderers. he went to many places in the world including ireland, the jungle in burma, egypt and africa. while there he went to the sahara desert where he was in the rats of T-brooks also know as the desert rats. as i said i dont know much detail about my grandfathers story but i know he was a brave man and he deservered to have his story told
