During the war mum became ill with TB.
My father was in Inida so we went to live in Belgrave, Leicester with my grandmother and for a few weeks went to Ellis Ave School.
On one ocassion my father came home and met me in the entry at the side of the house and I was a bit scared as I hadn't seen him for a while.
I was about 5 years old.
We went out into the street (Windsor Ave) and he'd bought a Jowett 7 (car) bought with D-Mobb money.
Although it was an old car and not reliable we used to have lots of family holidays to the East Coast after the war in it.
