I was born in Port Erin in 1940 and my father was a fisherman. I remember we had to dismantle the boats to avoid the "aliens" pinching the boat
There was a barrier up on the promenade - ARP's used to man the barrier and you had to have a pass to go through it. The internees were in the boarding house or in accomodation called the "Hut Ground". Pre- war this was accomodation for holiday makers (like chalets) and I believe they had internees in there too.
As far as I remember there was no animosity between the natives and the internees.
There was a lady called Zita, who came to help my mother - they were allowed to take on light duties. We never kept in contact afterwards, but believe many did.
