It wasn鈥檛 difficult to feed my family during the war as I only had one child. My mother and father had the business so I wasn鈥檛 so bad off. We got the usual rations and if you went to the butchers you had to take what he gave you, not what you wanted. You couldn鈥檛 go in and ask for half a pound of steak. After handing in your ration book the butcher would give you what he had available.
