Just found this site while doodling away the last few hrs before I can leave my office , and go home to cut grass!. Does anyone remember how much licorice root you could get for halfpenny when you had no sweet rations left?it was a lllllot!. Ice lollys ,store made for a copper, two good sucks and all that was left was clear ice.I was born in 1939, and it was not until 1944 that I found out that oranges didnt "grow" in clear glass bottles, labled USA.Apart from cocoa I think it was 1947 before chocolate stayed in the sweet shop long enough to run up there and buy a "mars" bar.I have lived in the USA since 1965 and still enjoy , licorice, popsicles and mars bars, anyone with similar memories?.Pete Simpson ,Baltimore, Maryland, USA
