Title ‘Married life in Bridge of Weir during the War’

I met my husband in 1940 and married him in 1942, he was in the Argyll and Sutherland regiment and 6 weeks after our wedding he went away to war!

It was very upsetting, I went to see him off and his parting words were ‘see you at the end of the war’

He was away for three years and I never knew during the time whether he would come back, I kept myself busy and worked at a Naval canteen in Glasgow — feeding the troops from trains, it was heavy work….. then joined the Wrens doing all sorts of work.

My husband returned wounded from the ‘Battle of Alamein’ he was 38 when he came home.
