My father now has Alzheimer鈥檚 disease and is in care. I found these pages he had written when I was going through photographs and papers. My father was a freelance photographer for many years and had hundreds of photographs published in the Advertiser, the Evening News and other papers. It was a hobby that he was passionate about.

He received the usual war medals and also has the Dunkirk Medal and Certificate signed by the Mayor of Dunkirk. I believe the medal is made from metal found on the beaches at Dunkirk. My father still likes to read the Advertiser and I take it to him each week. He particularly likes reading articles written by local people. He may not remember what he has read and reads it again but as long as he is taking an interest in what is going on I will continue to encourage him.

Sadly since then my father has passed away on 22nd December 2003 in Mayburn House, Loanhead, Midlothian. He would have been proud to see his story of World War Two on the 大象传媒鈥檚 Peoples Stories website.
