The picture shows HMS Snapper and the cutting from the local Sheffield newspaper telling of wireless set which was given to the sub. (see story Tales of The Supernatural ref A4840634). The sub went missing before the wireless set was delivered
My father served on the submarine HMS Snapper in 1940 and until it went missing in February 1941.
During that time it sank the following ships:
12/4/1940 German Tanker 'Moonsund' by gunfire
14/4/1940 Ger. Merch. Ship Florida by g/f
14/4/1940 Aux m/sweeper M/170/4 by torpedo
14/4/1940 Aux M/Sweeper M/Behrens by torpedo
14/4/1940 Ax M/sw Carsten Janssen by torpedo
25/6/1940 Ger. Trawler Portland by torpedo
3/7/1940 Norwegian Merch. ship Cygnus by torpedo
