I went to boarding school in 1934. The war began in 1939 and my mother came to take us to India. My father was a conservator in the forest in the Nacik district. We went to boarding school in Mussoorie in November 1944 and stayed in Cashir for 3 months. Then there was a ship for us to bring us to England. We stopped at Massaiva to take Italians to Naples in Italy. We came through the Suez Canal and landed at Southampton. We then came to live in Cambridge and I went to the Perse School. I worked in London for 13 years. After I got married, I moved to Cambridge. I worked at Heffers Workshop in Sidney Street for 3 years. After that I went to work at Cambridge University Library for 31 years. I retired in January 1997. Sadly my wife died in May 1997. My oldest sister died in September 2004. I have got 2 children and 3 grandchildren. My daughter lives in Shelford, my son has just moved to Spain to live. I am going to see him at Christmas. I go to the Free Church in Shelford now and I am 73 years old.
