A few memories -
)Every Sunday the soldiers used to come down from Ashdown to evening service at the Mission Hall, and then the members used to take them to their vaious homes to have supper. My parents used to have three or four visit every Sunday.

)Every Christmas I used to go around the village and collect the names and addresses of the boys in the forces, and Christmas parcels used to be sent to each one from the Mission Hall.

)Both my and my husband's father were in the Special Constabulary and used to go out on duty in the village every evening.

)My father was secretary of the pig club, and we used to share the meat when one was killed. The lovely thick rashers were very tasty!
