The mobile gun
My father Ernie Moore.
During the war was a on essential works order. His job was repairing bomb damage. Mainly in his trade ,bricklaying. He was also on duty at Kingsheath Fire Station. As a A.R.P dispatch rider, guiding convoys.
Their main task ,was taking injured to hospital. At ,places like Fulford Hall.
Which is on the south side of Birmingham.
The night, we are interested in. The mobile gun that was stationed at Swanhurst park. Was parked,by our cross roads.Daisy Farm Road and Langstone Road Warstock
He was giving it, what for.
Putting up the flack.
Us kids, Olive my sister and myself.
Were under the stairs.
Dad said it was "the safest place" .
When they were bombing.
Mom Tucked herself ,in behind us.
BAM-BAM, PING- PING the srapnal rained down once again.
Dad was standing at the lobby door.
Putting on his motor cycle coat. His berry and mk8 goggles.
BAM BAM- PING PING the srapnal bounce off the concrete road.
The door,it does a merry dance in the frame.
OOH,WA! We all jump .
Mom to dad "YOUR NOT GOING OUT OF THIS HOUSE TO NIGHT"
We don't no, if my dad was afraid of her. Or Hitler. But he never left the house that night.
