On the evening of June 19th 1943 my mother went into labour with me. It was not the best of timing as it was during a black out. My father was in the Home Guard so he got on his bike in search of the midwife. As he was cycling down the road he heard a voice shout "Halt who goes there". Dad replied "It's me mate I'm in search of the midwife!" The man allowed Dad to continue, somehow he located the midwife and they returned home just in time!

Alice Power ( the baby!!)
