Albert Taylor Auxillery Fire Man at a display

Albert worked for the Co-Operative Wholesale Society in Silvertown, East India Docks ,London

Before the war he joined the fire service at the firm. when war broke out they were taken into the ASF (Auxillery Fire Service)

Joan remembers being at home on the night 'London was a blaze'

Her father had been out all night fighting the fire - when he returned he cried.

The Thames had been at low tide and there wasn't enough water in the river to put the fire out.
