I met my husband George at Imperial Typewriter and we married in 1943.
I managed to get a dress but not the one I wanted.
I saw a white chiffon dress but didn't have enough to put down for it. When I went back to get it it was gone.
I couldn't get another one, so made do with an Ivory coloured dress.
My husbands father was a baker and so were the brothers so we managed to get bread and tins of salmon.
One of my brother-in-laws made the cake.
We had long tables and 120 guests including children.
The adults were in one room and the children were in another. We also managed to get an extra room to play some games like darts.
I enjoyed it.
I had five bridesmaids and they all had bouquets that George had bought.
Two bridesmaids wore mauve, two wore pink and my sister Catherine who was the chief bridesmaid wore blue.
