I must have been about seven, and we lived in Islington throughout the war. I can remember when the raids started we used to go down to Angel tube station for shelter. This was before they put all the bunk beds in, so we used to lie down on the platforms to sleep. I had a pair of black stockings to keep me warm; my dad used to call me Minnie Mouse. We all had to get out of the stations by 6am as that was when the trains started running again. We would have to go home and go back to bed. Sometimes we went to school, but it was a bit hit and miss in those days.
