Sunday morning so very early, standing, on the village green.
I stood there pondering! Just what my life had been, and all the things I'd seen.
It seems not so many years ago, I stood here before.
And yes! I did - the country was at war.
I stood here and watched the search lights that followed the German planes,
That came to drop the bombs to set the area in flames.
So here I am, no lights or planes to watch, but birds, trees and oh the squirrels too.
So peaceful here just now, the trees and fliowers in bloom.
I stand and think, about sixty years between these events, and time is moving on.
These years between!I wonder how quickly they have gone
Then I think about my age, and time is moving on.
And so I write this down! for this may be, my swansong
