I was 15 years old when the war finished so i can't tell you alot, Ilived in Sunderland but i can't remember where abouts. The hospitals where much cleaner in them days!
My late brother, Tommy Hollingsworth was 20 when the war began and volunterred for everything that was going like, The battle of the budge, Dunkurk, Normandy and also Arhnem, although when he came back he was never the same person he found out the love of his life died in a bombing in her house from then on he swore that he would never be with another woman from then on and he stuck to his word till he died. If anyone has the book or vidio of 'A Bridge To Far his name is mentioned several occasions.
I have retreived all the medals that he got prestented to him and a boot pistol that he took off an Italian prisoner.
I am extremly proud of my brother and i hope that this story will give everyone mine and his memorie of what it was like!!!!
