I was born in 1945 just as the War ended and as such have no memories of it.
My sister was born in 1938 so all of her early years were spent with just our mother at home.
This is the effect that the War ending had on her family life.
She has recently explained to me how her life was suddenly turned upside down and became dominated by two male figures that she had not experienced before; Father came home and thought that he was still a Sergeant barking out orders and expecting immediate responses, I arrived crying and also expecting immediate response. Both competing for Mother's attention that had been her sole right for the first seven years of her life.
