On the 16th of June 2005 Natalie and Alex interviewed Alec and Edith. We found out that Edith worked in a hospital and Alec worked in the Navy. Edith found some of the war funny and she didn't know why. Edith worked as a nurse for a while. Alec worked on submarines and told us more about bombs.
Edith was only 21 when the war started and Alec was 23.
If anyone got bombed they would have to go to the nearest house and hope they did not get bombed. Alec and Edith had a lack of sleep because of bombs going off. Edith told us that people didn't even have to lock the door, because nobody would even try to steal anything.
Alec and Edith told us that the Germans started to shoot at innocent people because they ran out of bombs. Twenty-two people died in Union Street because of a landmine. One child got killed because of a landmine in Salthouse. There were 384 alerts in the war becuse of all kinds of bombs. Alec told us that he helped make ships to help England.
Now we know more about the war thanks to Alec and Edith.
