Alan Phillips

When the war started in 1939, Alan was seven years old. He lived in Middlesbrough. He was evacuated in 1939 to Bridlington. He was then put in a hotel with other children and no adults look after them. They ruled themselves. He didn鈥檛 go to school because he didn鈥檛 have to. They ran riot for a while and when his parents came to visit him and his sister they saw the mess they were in and didn鈥檛 let them back again.
His school was strict and he didn鈥檛 like it there. Alan had two brothers and a sister.
The wireless and the pictures were the only form of entertainment, and he could only afford to go once a month. Overall, Alan didn鈥檛 mind the war all together. It probably didn鈥檛 affect him very much.
