I went to Sicily with the Airforce then I moved to the Spitfire squadron in January 1943/44 it was very cold. We saw all the Americans flying over. They used to say 鈥渨hen the Germans fly over, the English duck. When the English fly over the Germans duck. And when the Americans fly over, everyone ducks! (because of friendly fire).
