Tom Wigoda was a top turret gunner/engineer on a B-17 and based at Kimbolton, England
He befriended a local family and one day he gave them some coal to which owing to wartime rationing, they were very grateful. So grateful that they invited him to Sunday Dinner. Despite rationing they served him a great spread.
Whenever he was not flying on a Sunday he would visit the family with coal and given dinner in return for his generousity.
What he did not tell them was that the night before a Sunday he was due to go around to the family for sunday dinner he would break out of the airbase past the Military Police and go to the families house and take (steal) some of their coal !!!!
All he was doing was giving them their own coal back and gaining a thank you dinner !!!! they never noticed that despite getting coal from Tom, the coal level never increased !!!
