Early in 1940, three members of our Home Guard Group from Witchampton and The Crichels were on night guard duty near Crichel and Manswood woods. Our Fighter Aircraft attacked a German Bomber plane overhead and after a long dog fight it was shot down. We rounded up three German airmen who had parachuted to earth. They were shaken and no trouble as we disarmed them. We then contacted Blandford Army Camp who came and collected them.
